Problem:   How do you show late Bars in the Gantt Chart? Sometimes referred to as "backward pass". Solution:  Late dates helps us to identify Activities which can be delayed for resource levelling & Also to delay activities without delaying the Project Finish dates. Add a new Bar called “late bar" as shown in below Pic & Check “Display” Now, Gantt chart should display late bar. Problem:   How do you show Indicators for delayed activities? Solution:  With the help of the User Defined field (UDF) & Global change functions you can Set automated Indicators to raise flag.   Add a new UDF with title “Variance Indicator” and data type as “Indicator".     Add a new Global Change with Title “Indicator” as shown below. Apply the Global Change “Indicator” by selecting the “Indicator” & click on Apply Change. Layouts in Primavera P6, Do you use it well?

Problem: Sometimes we have to open schedules or print schedules with certain columns, bars, Group & Sort or filters all in a view. we take 5 mins to organize it. Re-opening the same view the next day or asking your contractor to report on that particular view is a nightmare. The problem can be solved, a view can be opened instantly in a fraction of seconds. Solution: With the help of layouts option, you can save a view & reuse it to view instantly. With the help of import & export functions within layouts. It makes it important, to be shared with contractors or other schedulers to avoid confusion. During the planning stages. Broken Bars in Gantt Chart? Here is a simple trick to get rid of it.

Problem:   While the remaining bar should be continuous from the actual bar , Often we see a gap between the data line and remaining bar. This can be misunderstood easily and makes the schedule looks awful. Solution: This is due to remaining work is scheduled to next working day on your calendar. To avoid this, make sure you schedule the data date with time to next working day. In my example, My Current data date was 01 May 2011 00:00 Hrs. which is Sunday. My current data date should be after the calendar holiday on Monday 02 May 2011 08:00 Hrs After rectification, the bars will look like this.
